I
worked with one organization that had opened its doors 6 months
earlier. They understood their products well and had built a strong
team from their previous professional connections. What they lacked
were all the systems to make the HR part of their operation flow
smoothly. So I came in and met with the management team to identify all
the areas of support they were seeking.
We
started by creating the standards in an employee handbook, which all
the managers reviewed and approved. Then we created job descriptions
for the employees and turned them into performance appraisal forms,
including self-appraisals and peer appraisals.
We
set up their personnel files, making sure they had the right core
documents and systems in place. We also set up their employment
standards creating an employment application and interview
questionnaires to help them grow with the right players.
They wanted to cover all the HR and management bases and I continue my involvement on an on-call basis as new HR needs arise.
